Memorial Middle School Library 3:30-5:30

Secretary’s Report:

Treasurer’s Report:

*Finance Committee update- Katie was unable to print this month’s balance sheet and will bring it to the June meeting.

*Preliminary FEA Budget for 2012-2013 was presented to the Council. Katie was able to maintain the local dues at the same amount- however the FEA is not able to control the increase of MTA or NEA dues. Katie also increased the amount allotted for rent hoping to move the office to the first floor of the building. The budget will be voted on at our June 6th meeting.

Membership:

*Letters will be sent out to teachers/ paras/custodians that have not yet joined the FEA. Article II, Section 10, page 4 of the teacher contract and Para contract Article II, Section 1states that members of the bargaining unit that are not members of the Association must pay an agency fee as a condition of employment. Employees that receive the letters will need to respond to Katie regarding this membership status. A motion was made that these members be told in writing to pay the membership dues or agency fee (as a condition of employment) or submit their names for termination as per our contracts. This motion was seconded, followed by a discussion, and approved by show of hands, (2 opposed, 1 abstaining)
